Default Christian...

We keep seeing him on the island alive and acting like he's "in the know" about WTF is going on there. But I have yet to read many ideas on this.

Has anyone else seen the "Missing Pieces" Promo clip where it shows another scene (which would have happened before the very first scene of the whole show, where Jack is waking up) and Christian is the first person on the island out of his coffin, white sneakers on, calling Vincent (Walt's dog) to go and find his son? He told Vincent to find his son and wake him up because he had a lot of work to do.

Then last ssn we see Christian with Claire in Jacob's cabin telling Locke that he would have to 'move' the island.

Then this ssn in the flashback that shows how Locke got off the island, Christian is the one who talks Locke into getting up and moving the frozen donkey wheel thingy to put the island 'back on track' in time.

He DEFINATELY has a part in the island magic. But what?

I'm desperately trying to figure out who can and can't be trusted here. And .... the living characters all lie. But could the dead ones be telling lies? Ana-Lucia didn't tell Hurley any lies....hmmm who else has appeared from the Spirit world? Or are the ppl who talk to the spirits just crazy??
Ugh....someone give me a clue here!

Anyone....anyone....Bueller?

Cheers from chilly Canada eh?

I think it is difficult to really pin point Christian because of the many instances where we have seen him. I think the deceased people are not necessarily good, as they are manipulating the Survivors for either Jacob or Esau's gain, or other gains.

I have a feeling Christian is a source for good. John Locke said the first time he saw the 'monster' it was beautiful. Now I can't believe that anyone could call that black smoke beautiful so was John Locke seeing Jacob/Christian?

Eko's experience with the monster was wholly bad. He never thought it was beautiful so you do get a feeling there are two forces at work here.

I wonder if Christian is like Widmore and Ellie and at some point lived on the island and was banished or left.
I don't know why I feel this but he seems too important to be just Jack and Claire's Dad.
If I remember correctly, didn't he used to disappear a lot because Jack didn't want to look for him in Australia until his Mum convinced him.

I still think Christian benefitted Esau's loophole and because of this I am skeptical that he is good.

I don't think Christian did benefit Esau's loophole. He wanted Locke to turn the wheel not Ben. Maybe it was Locke that benefitted Esau's loophole by not following instructions and allowing himself to be controlled by Ben all the time.

Yes but Christian asked Locke twice to move the Island, which would allow Esau use inhabit his body once he died. I think Esau was unable to kill Locke on the Island, which seems strange given the nature by which Esau killed Bram after he surrounded himself with the Ash.

Remind me of how moving the island benefitted Esau's loophole because at the moment I don't see the connection.

I tend to think Christian wanted the island moved so that the O6 couldn't come back easily (from the helicopter) until they'd had certain life experiences back in the real world.

Ben killed Locke by his own volition. At this stage he wasn't being manipulated by MIB.

Well, moving the Island was the only way Locke could leave and ultimately, the only way he could die - which Esau needed. Esau told Alpert to tell Locke that he needed to bring his friends back [requiring to move the Island] and he would have to die. Christian then appears in The Orchid and tells Locke he only needs to give the Wheel a litte push.

Good point M.A, I like this idea. And perhaps Christian simply wanted to move the Island to prevent more of Widmore's men. I am still puzzled why he did not ask for Eloise's help in getting back but that is another topic altogether.

I think Christian on his own or Christian/Jacob foresaw Esau's plan and knew that Esau would take over Locke's body; but I have a feeling that Locke's body or the real Locke isn't finished - yet. Esau may be looking like Locke but he isn't in Locke's body because it is lying there on the beach.

I think we may see two Lockes walking about in the future and the islanders will have to be able to tell bad Locke from good Locke!

Cheers, MA

I have got the impression that Jacob was preparing for Esau's loophole, even as far to say that Jacob needs/wanted to die?

I do wonder whether leaving his body unattended could have implications for Esau's future as Locke.

I wonder that Esau does not need Locke's body physically because that would make him mortal and we know at the moment that Esau cannot be harmed.

I think when - or if - Locke comes back, he will be very, very angry.
