Default The CCTV ain't working

Well, on the face of it, "?" confirmed the idea we had way back when Michael communicated with Walt over the PC, namely that he is being watched by someone and its got nothing to do with Walt. We always suspected there were cameras in the hatch, and now we know its true.

But look at it like this:

1) The beechcraft blocked the entrance to the Pearl. And the Swan was entered long after Boone died. So throughout all of S2, at least, there hasn't been anyone in the Pearl (assuming there is no other entrance).

2) All the TVs were turned off, and only one seems to have a live camera connected to it.

Now unless the cameras provide multiple feeds to other hatches as well, this means noone has been watching.

So it was Walt all along

I think the others have been watching from their hatch. If they have one...

I think you right i a sense - in that IMO they are fighting their own battle and so they are also fighting to survive.

I also think that they were at one point part of the experiemnt in that they helped develop them. Afterall it seems likely that they are ex Dharma scientists..

I've come to the view that The Others (as a culture, rather than all the people we now see) were there before Dharma.

Some or all of the Dharma scientists may well have joined them. Probably when they realised that the Others way of life was better suited to survival on this island that messes with your mind. So thats when they gave up their attempt at scientific exploration and technological exploitation of the mysteries forces of nature on the island.

But I do think that there are other elements to this culture, other groups of people, like the survivors of The Black Rock (although we now know that was Hansos dad ship which means they were "Dharma" as well)

Are we sure 108? I know on the blast door map it says something along the lines of;

"Here lies the body of [?]H" (I can't remember the first initial)

But I can't remember it saying anywhere that he was 'on the ship'.

I know it would make sense to presume, but I think presuming anything on this show is at your own risk..

His name is Magnus Hanso (which btw I think is another clue to magnetism being important on the island).

Now this is getting complicated, someone posted on this site that they read on the Hanso or Dharma or whatever website that MH was the captain of the Black Rock.

I haven't actually looked at that myself, nor am I planning too. I spend far too much time on the web discussing Lost already you know. There are some jobs around the house and garden that need doing, and then theres work and shopping and before you know it I really have no life left.

lol, well from my experience if it's on 'lost experience' stuff then it's usually not relevant to the show [I don't think JJ or the crew have any say in what happens on it]...

Maybe he was capitain. But if it were important to the writing and plot of the show then I don't think JJ [and co] would have allowed it to be used in the lost experience...

I do get worried how much is for the plot and how much is for the 'ARG' [Alternate Reality Game]

On the map it made reference to the fact that Magnus was buried right next/near to the Black Rock. I think this may be important later on..espcially once [if] we meet the ellusive Alver..

Remember the link I posted on the "The Black Rock" discussion thread?

http://www.lostcommunity.co.uk/forums/inde...p?showtopic=377

(that was just the link to the thread), here is the link

http://webmineral.com/data/Magnetite.shtml

One of the things it says in there is that "Magnetite" (The Black Rock) is (and I quote)

Quote:
Named for Magnes, a Geek shepherd, who discovered the mineral on Mt, Ida, He noted that the nails of his shoe and the iron ferrule of his staff clung to a rock.
Thats what I'm guessing Magnus Hanso did. He discovered the islands special properties. Like it being magnetic. And somehow managed to let his (or grandson?) Alvar know about it - like a secret kept by the family - who would later found Dharma, and set up research here.

The skeletons found on the ship were chained wern't they? I think they were but i'm not sure, maybe magnus hanso discovered the island and all its properties and then brought slaves to come and work on the island. just a thought

The skeletons were chained, but there were also some that were broken (or opened? not sure about that) which I think means a number of people survived.

Slave ship. Yeah, thats what they called it in S1. Which makes me think, this is Lost, the characters haven't got a clue normally so it wasn't a slave ship. Maybe this ship was taking prisoners to Oz. Now they did that to start with, right? When did they finish using Oz as a prison?
