The Orientation Video - What did we learn?

That there is a ferry that takes the hatch's occupants back to the barracks after their 8 hour shift in the Pearl.
Where is the ferry and the barracks, and what, if anything, happened to them?

Also, Marvin or whatever he's called had full use of his left arm, which didn't seem to be the case in the Swan's orientation. Maybe there was actually an incident where he lost it? So therefore the Swan's vid was made after the Pearl's. Or, it is just part of the 'disguise'.

Yeah..so he's got at least 2 aliases [probably 6 in total?].

Also the Pearl Orientation film was [if we are to believe the copywrite] made in 1981. [out of interest] What was the date on the Swan one..was it 1980?

This is weird. So they literally take a boat back to thier sleeping quarters? Or do they mean ferry in another sense..as in inderground communte transport?

Also, how comes they dont live/sleep there like the Swan hatchers apparently did? hmm..

Interesting..this would suggest that the Swan film was perhaps made after the Pearl's. We know that the Pearl video was made in 1981 [apparently]..I can't quite remember the production year of the Swan film.

Also, would this mean that the Arrow hatch had a film then. Because it would suggest/confirm that there was a seperate film for each hatch..yet the Arrow only had the 'splice' of the Swans film.. Perhaps this tells us that there is indeed a secret 7th hatch as the blast door map indicates..

Another difference between the films was that the pearl one was on a proper video unlike the swan which was on a reel sort of thing, wouldn't that mean that the pearl video was made after the swan video.

Yeah the Swan one was done on a projecter reel and the Pearl one done on a VHS [or Betamax?] video tape. I think this distingtion is fairly important and i would think youre right in suggesting thaty the Pearl one was done after. Although the date on it was 1981 wasnt it? Now i cant recall the date on the Swan one *will check in a minute*

Also, imo Candles clothing looked more old fashioned in the Pearl one which is strange. Or perhaps it's just because in the Swan film he was wearing a laboratory jacket. Yeah, thats probably why.

Btw, I wonder if the gaps in the video are important..not sure how much we missed of Wickmans speech but the video fuzzed out of a couple of occassions.

Also, i reckon the aesthetics in the Pearl video were much older than the Swan video's more modern feel.. hmm....

I thought the pearl video said it took the workers back on the ferry after 3 weeks? I thought it said they worked 8 hour shifts for 3 weeks and then they got the ferry back.

Would this mean then that while Danielle was on the island these ferrys were docking and picking up passengers? How is it that shes been on this island for 16 years yet the losties have been on it for a few months and have found tons more information and hatches etc?

Somethings not right there.
