Default The Orientation Video - What did we learn?

Yeah because Danielles a liar methinks, lol

Also..these ferries..do we think they are ferries in the traditional sense..as in boats...or are they underground transport..?

If they are boat-type ferries then this would mean that there are 2 islands, no? Or at least a docking centre or something..? Is this where the cable goes..?

Hmmmm

Default The Orientation Video - What did we learn?

Dani was being 'controlled'/Manipulated.

Think about all the major discoveries.

The Swan, the Pearl, Nigerian Plane, Caves, Medi Hatch - all from visions induced by 'the island'

All they had to do is make Dani think there was a sickness, make sure smokey kept her in her little [hatchless] area and she'd be none the wiser

The cable could be part of the ferry system, like the chain ferry at Poole Harbour, the ferry literally movers along a chain under the water, meaning the driver simply has to press go and stop (I am sure it is a bit more complicated than this, but you get my point).
If Dharma have a ferry, they need a ferry driver, but if the boat is on a cable, then it could be automated to start and stop on its own, like the trains that go between the terminals at gatwick (they drive themselves, I have always found it creepy ).

Btw, I wonder if the gaps in the video are important..not sure how much we missed of Wickmans speech but the video fuzzed out of a couple of occassions.

Also, i reckon the aesthetics in the Pearl video were much older than the Swan video's more modern feel.. hmm....
I noticed those gaps, and in the Swan orientation video, though those weren't as obvious. I'm pretty sure there were gaps though. In the Pearl video, it seems like they didn't make as much of an effort to cover those gaps, however, which when coupled with your point of the aesthetics being much older than the Swan video's more modern feel makes me think that maybe the Swan video was cleaned up more and there was more effort put in due to the fact that they had to convince the Swan's occupants that it was important to press the button, which would entail making the orientation video look more professional etc..

Default The Orientation Video - What did we learn?

Interesting inconcistencies there.

So both films were made in 1980. One of them on newer technology (at the time anyway) with a younger looking presenter, the other with older technology and an older looking presenter, who also appeared to have lost the use of one arm. The presenter used different names, but is clearly the same man. And both the video and film have been tempered with, or simply worn out.

If it wasn't for the date, I'd say the chronology of the presenter (and if we assume that the incident happened a bit down the time line in Dharma island presence) is pausible except why go back to film when you clearly mastered video tape before, as loading it is so much more convenient.

What if the Pearl film started its life as film, and was later transferred to tape? It needed to be used every 3 weeks, whereas the Swan film would only come out of its box every couple of years or so.
