Thank you. Yeah, thats thick enough, could well carry power. But the fact that its damaged surely means that it isn't actually carrying power, at least not anymore, or Sayid would have found an early grave from handling it like that.

Of course there could be other cables like that, all electricity supplies use networks for redundancy in case of damage, rather than a single cable.

I thought the wire was put there by Rousseau to lead the others in to a trap.
And I thought the hatches were powered by an electromagnetic reactor (the hatch) and it has a maintenance programe (pushing the button every 108 minutes) to make sure it doesnt overreact, there used to be a computerized self-run programe (thats why theres so much machinery) but it failed and hence, THE INCEDENT.... Thats why they need cameras. Thats my amazing theory, I'm not sure. What do you all think?
