Why Was Ilana In Hospital - Was She Dying?

Jacob and Ilana seem like good friends and Ilana seems to hold Jacob in high esteem and even when lying badly injured in hospital she didn't hesitate to agree to help Jacob.

The nurse also mentioned Ilana's condition. Was Ilana seriously injured (she looked as though she was suffering from burns) or was she dying? Did Ilana know that by helping Jacob she would prolong her life and cheat death?

Secondly you wonder how she got so beat up in the first place. Did she get like this helping Jacob before?

Well, do we have any idea as to the geographical location of the hospital? Maybe she was on flight 815, injured/others stolen, and taken back to the real world to be fixed up.

More likely is this is a scene we'll see come to fruition next season.

It didn't look like a very sophisticated hospital from memory. I'm trying to think what nationality Ilana would be - Russian perhaps? I'll see if there's much about her on Lostpedia.

I thought maybe she was in a fire and she had burns or something i don't know why though. She really confuses me

I assumed burns myself but interesting ideas that it is because she had previously worked for Jacob. They definitely knew each other from the way they were talking - so this could be a possiblity. We are assuming of course that this was for the mission they are currently on (with the crate). Maybe it was an older mission? Maybe it was a future one?

What would boggle my mind would be if...just as they surprised us with the "we have to go back, Kate" being a flashforward...the jacob visit was actually in the future. Provided that the bomb actually reset everything. Maybe Jacob really did make a mistake by bringing those people to the island and stuff so maybe he's out trying to fix his mistake.

I can't wrap my head around this one either. I do recall Jacob saying to Ilana, "Sorry it took me so long to get here" or something to that effect. Which led me to believe that she had been working for him when she became injured.

its not the same hospital that locke ended up in when he met widmore is it? havent got anything to base it on apart from memory (which maybe flawed )

burns from the bomb going off in the '70 perhaps? and travelling to the same spot? but then jacob visits her in the present (not 30 years in hospital, but by him saying sorry it toke so long, was meant in a timeline sense?

No not 30 years in hospital but if is feasible for her to jump forward in time, Locke did by 3 years when he turned the FDW, however, the bomb was at the Swan and the FDW is at the Orchid.

I thought she was in the same Hospital that Locke was brought to, but I noticed the Nurse had a different accent. I thought she left the Island and arrived at The Exit but this seems unlikely now.
