Would this episode of worked if it hadnt of been a Desmond Centric?

I was watching this episode last night (as I couldnt sleep and thought why not? ) and I was thinking this episode is so good because it's a Desmond centric (and I'm not being Des biased there it's just his character ) I mean his character just fits in so well with it as you've got the whole Penny/Charles story lines and the Pesmond phone scene just topped the whole episode off (awwww it makes my eyes water thinking about it ) but anyway back to the question would this episode of worked so well if it had been another character centric? Personally I couldnt imagine sitting through 42 minutes (or however long it was) of Jack time travelling and then a disgusting scene of Jack on the phone to Kate or Sarah or some stupid woman who finds him attractive *shudders*
So would it of worked and with which character?

MEP, It is my favourite episode by far too and the one I watch the most. In answer to your question, no I don't think any other character could pull it off as Desmond did. Henry IC has the skill in his acting that showed the pain, confusion and fear in his face throughout the series which is exactly what this episode needed. I put this down to the excellent casting. I also do not think it is the end of this type of acting for the role of Desmond.

I so totally agree with this. Cusick is by far one of the better actors on this show. I rank him right up there with ME. No one else on this show could have played this episode better. Did you notice how all of the Desmond centric episodes are the best ones really?

The fact that it is a Dessie episode and i'm not much of a Dessie fan but i loved it just proves how good the episode was . I mean i couldn't imagine it being any of chracter. Who'd have thought that mad guy in the Hatch would be such an important character when he ran i thought that was the last we saw of him.

Yeah I agree with you all and this is what I was trying (but failing) to say

Henry has great acting skills and like I said just his chracter suited the episode so well. I'm glad that he's up there with the main characters now and worked his way up.
