Why did Jack not want to see Aaron

At the end of the episode Kate said to Jack she understood why she didn't want to see the child but he could when he was ready. I thought the theme of this was to try and make us think the Kate's baby was Sawyer's to surprise us maore at the end with the 'It's Aaron' reveal. But why did Jack not want to see Aaron, his nephew. Is this because of the link with his dad or have I missed a really obvious reason.

The only thing that comes to mindis that Christian was a bad Father to Jack and Jack thinks he will be the same so doesn't want to mess up with Aaron. When he was reading to Aaron and Kate said he was a natural he asked Kate to confirm that he was good a bit later.
I agree though that it could be something more, which is to be revealed next season.

This was before Jack took a turn for the worse and grew his beard, so perhaps he did not want to be reminded of the Island. Yet Jack saw Aaron the same day he discovered he was his Uncle, so what changed after this?

I always got the feeling that Jack's guilt is what kept him from wanting to see Aaron. Jack has to fix everything and he left Claire behind and then finds out later it is his sister and that Aaron is his nephew. I think he feels somewhat guilty for not bringing Claire back and not telling Claire's mom about Aaron.
He also refused to help Claire give birth, choosing to help Boone instead who was obviously dying anyway. He told Kate to help Claire instead.

Yeah, I am going with guilt. Not that I think he should feel guilty, but it kind of goes along with the territory.

Good point KsF. Though I think he has nothing to be guilty for, he is simply being hard on himself and/or feels sad about the whole situation. I suppose we can say Jack's feelings toward Aaron changed the moment Claire's Mother spoke to Jack at Christian's Wake/Funeral.
